Our family company started in Waterloo decades ago in 1989. Originally named as a nod to the Foy family’s favourite Football Club we branded as “Anfield”. As the family grew its roots in the Waterloo Region, we grew the business and transitioned to the “The Fireplace Loft” name we carry today. Throughout this time, we focused on addressing the needs of our community and bringing our expertise to our customers. All the while, the family youth trained in the trade, where three generations of Foy’s now actively work together for you.
As the original home for the The Fireplace Loft, 636 Colby Drive in Waterloo is located in the Conestoga Mall area. Waterloo housed the original warehouse and wood-working shop along with the primary sales facility. Over the years, we continued to grow to the point where the millwork and carpentry division (Melwood Mantels) moved to Breithaupt Street in Kitchener. Today, Colby Drive remains our primary fireplace depot, showroom and retail sales home

The Waterloo showroom has fully functional, complete fireplaces and surrounds available for you to experience. While you can always review our web gallery or visit many online sources for fireplaces and room decor, there is nothing like experiencing the materials, heat and comfort firsthand. The Colby Drive showroom has dozens of mini environments built with a variety of surrounds in styles such as wood, stone, modern and media walls. Similarly, all the fireplace manufacturers we sell are represented in the showroom with operating gas and electric fireplaces allowing you to get hands-on with the look you may be trying to achieve for your home.
In addition to this live experience, our showroom has something that no other retailers in the area have, the Foy Family expertise. A visit to our showroom allows us to work with you and apply our years of experience and knowledge for your benefit. This is something that no big-box store or appliance retailer can provide you. The Fireplace Loft in Waterloo also carries the distinction of showcasing electric fireplaces that you will not find elsewhere. In fact, we were the first in Canada to solely offer electric fireplaces years before these became mainstream. We imported what were unique in the market at the time to serve a niche for environmentally clean, low-profile, and versatile fireplace installations. That niche may have become mainstream in 2020’s, but we remain the leader in electric fireplaces. Visiting our Waterloo showroom will allow us to prove that.
